Competitive Squads

We operate one of the largest competitive programmes in the local area, offering a structured pathway for girls within Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) and GfA competitive. Gymnasts can progress from entry-level competitions through to higher competitive levels, in line with British Gymnastics frameworks. Children are not permitted to begin competing until they are turning six within that calendar year, in accordance with British Gymnastics regulations.

At present, we are unable to offer a boys’ competitive pathway. This is due to the absence of the specialist equipment and coaching expertise required for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) competition.

As with all British Gymnastics-affiliated clubs, places within our development and competitive pathways are limited and in high demand. Entry into our development system is based on coach assessment of ability, physical readiness, and long-term potential, rather than a desire to compete alone.

Not all children will be suited to a competitive pathway, and many will continue to thrive within our recreational programme, which remains a valuable and important part of the club. Competitive places can only be offered where coaches believe a gymnast has the capacity to progress safely and appropriately through the relevant pathway.

When spaces become available within our development squads, we will hold assessment sessions or trials, which will be advertised accordingly. In some cases, coaches may also identify a gymnast with significant potential and recommend progression into the development pathway outside of a formal trial process.
